Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary coursework in dance, choreography, education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience as a Color Guard instructor and/or director, preferably within a competitive marching band or winter guard program.
  • Demonstrated expertise in color guard technique including flag, rifle, saber, and movement/dance fundamentals.
  • Experience teaching and developing performers within a competitive marching arts environment (BOA, WGI, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to design instructional systems that build strong technical foundations and performance excellence.
  • Strong organizational, instructional, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and staying current with instructional and performance trends in the marching arts.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and parents in a high-expectation program.
  • Meets all mandated health requirements.
  • A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
  • Complies with drug-free workplace rules and corporation policies.
  • Respects and observes the right of confidentiality.
  • Supports corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives.
 
 
Description

Job Objective: 

The Color Guard Director provides artistic leadership, instruction, and

comprehensive program management for the Noblesville Schools Color Guard Program. This

includes oversight of the Marching Band Color Guard and Winter Color Guard, as well as the

development and coordination of feeder and outreach guard programs that support the

long-term growth of the Noblesville Bands organization.

The director develops students’ technical, artistic, and performance skills while fostering discipline, teamwork, and a culture of excellence consistent with the standards of Noblesville Schools and the Noblesville Bands program.

The Color Guard Director collaborates closely with the Director of Bands and visual staff to design and implement cohesive visual programming for marching band and winter guard performances. The director also oversees program development initiatives including Cadet Color Guard, Junior Varsity Color Guard, Elementary Guard Clinics, and summer instructional opportunities such as the Township Trustees Camp.

The Color Guard Director models professionalism and integrity while positively representing the Noblesville Schools Vision, Mission, and expectations for student excellence.
