Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
      • Coach student-athletes in sport-specific techniques, strategies, and conditioning appropriate to the season.
      • Motivate and mentor student-athletes to develop strong character, work ethic, sportsmanship, and appreciation for the sport.
      • Foster a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented environment.
      • Ensure compliance with UHSAA regulations and Millard School District policies and procedures.
      • Supervise all team activities including practices, competitions, travel, and off-season events.
      • Monitor academic eligibility and promote academic accountability of student-athletes.
      • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents/guardians, administration, and athletic directors.
      • Serve as a liaison for related youth and feeder programs to strengthen program development.
      • Manage program budgets, expenditures, fundraising efforts, and equipment inventory in coordination with school administration and the District finance office.
      • Plan and oversee off-season activities including camps, conditioning programs, and summer preparation.
      • Maintain required coaching certifications and ensure assistant coaches meet compliance standards.
      • Coordinate transportation and scheduling in collaboration with administration.
TRACK AND FIELD – Additional Responsibilities
      • Instruct athletes in track and field event techniques, including sprints, distance, hurdles, relays, jumps, and throws.
      • Develop practice plans that include conditioning, event-specific skill development, technique progression, and appropriate recovery.
      • Coordinate meet entries, relay assignments, event lineups, and meet-day supervision.
      • Coordinate and provide direction to assistant coaches and volunteers assigned to specific event areas.
      • Oversee track and field equipment, uniforms, throwing implements, jumping areas, timing or measurement materials, and facility use.
      • Maintain accurate rosters, attendance, performance records, meet results, and other program documentation as requested.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
      • Must meet UHSAA coaching certification standards or be willing to obtain certification prior to the start of the season.
      • Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented environment.
      • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
      • Previous coaching experience (0–2 years or more), preferably at the secondary level.
      • Prior participation experience in the sport at the high school or collegiate level.
      • Experience managing budgets and coordinating fundraising activities.
      • Ability to supervise students safely in an athletic environment.
TRACK AND FIELD – Additional Qualifications
      • Knowledge of track and field rules, event areas, scoring, meet procedures, and athlete safety expectations.
      • Ability to develop event-specific training plans for athletes with varying skill levels and experience.
      • Understanding of safe training progressions, proper technique, hydration, weather awareness, and injury prevention principles.
      • Experience coaching or competing in competitive track and field preferred.
 
 
Description
Job Description
Millard School District is accepting applications for the position of Girls Track and Field Coach at Delta High School. The Coach is responsible for coaching student-athletes in track and field techniques, training, conditioning, and performance to prepare them for competition and to help students develop an appreciation for the sport.
 
The Coach will provide leadership for the track and field program, including event-specific instruction, practice organization, meet preparation, athlete supervision, and coordination with school administration and the athletic director. The Coach will promote sportsmanship, teamwork, academic accountability, student safety, and positive participation among student-athletes.
 
Additional responsibilities include coordinating assistant coaches and volunteers, organizing meet entries and event assignments, maintaining program records, overseeing equipment and facility use, and supporting program development through communication with students, parents/guardians, administration, and related youth or feeder programs.

Compensation
      • Compensation follows the Millard School District Extra Duty Salary Schedule or other approved stipend or hourly rate for the assignment.
      • Seasonal, coaching, and extra-duty assignments are limited to the assigned season, activity, or approved assignment period.
Benefits Eligibility
      • Seasonal, coaching, and extra-duty assignments are generally not eligible for health insurance or paid leave benefits unless otherwise required by law or District policy.
      • Employees may be subject to District, school, and activity-specific onboarding requirements.
Assignment Approval
      • Final compensation and assignment details are subject to District approval.

      • Coaching assignments are subject to District approval and applicable school, District, and UHSAA requirements.

      • Employment or assignment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
      • Employment eligibility verification and required onboarding documents must be completed prior to beginning the assignment.
