Essential Duties and Responsibilities
      • Provide screening, evaluation, diagnosis, and school-based intervention for students with speech, language, fluency, voice, pragmatic/social communication, and related communication needs.
      • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and related speech-language services.
      • Conduct assessments, prepare written evaluation reports, and participate in eligibility determination meetings.
      • Provide direct therapy services to students individually, in small groups, or within classroom settings as appropriate.
      • Provide consultation and support to general education teachers, special education teachers, administrators, parents/guardians, and related service providers.
      • Support students who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, assistive technology, or other communication supports.
      • Maintain accurate service logs, progress monitoring records, Medicaid documentation when applicable, and other required compliance documentation.
      • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, child find activities, reevaluations, and transition planning as assigned.
      • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, service delivery, and communication strategies.
      • Maintain confidentiality of student records and comply with FERPA, IDEA, Utah special education rules, and District policies.
      • Provide supervision, training, or consultation to speech-language technicians, assistants, paraeducators, or other staff when assigned and permitted under applicable licensing requirements.
      • Travel between District schools or service locations as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
      • Knowledge of speech and language development, communication disorders, evidence-based intervention strategies, and school-based service delivery models.
      • Knowledge of special education evaluation procedures, IEP development, progress monitoring, and compliance documentation.
      • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
      • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, parents/guardians, and administrators.
      • Strong organization, documentation, scheduling, and time-management skills.
      • Ability to manage a caseload across multiple settings while maintaining service quality and compliance.
      • Ability to adapt services to meet the needs of students with diverse disabilities, communication needs, and educational settings.
Work Environment
      • Assignment may include multiple schools, classrooms, therapy spaces, meetings, and other District-approved service settings.
      • Travel within the District may be required.
      • Work requires interaction with students of varying ages, disabilities, communication needs, and behavioral needs.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
      • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or a closely related approved program.
      • Current Utah Speech-Language Pathologist license, or ability to provide documentation of current licensure required to serve as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Utah public schools prior to employment.
      • Ability to provide independent school-based speech-language pathology services consistent with state and federal requirements.
      • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP procedures, special education evaluation requirements, and school-based service delivery.
      • Strong written and oral communication skills.
      • Ability to collaborate with students, parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and related service providers.
      • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
      • Valid driver’s license or ability to travel between assigned District locations.
Preferred Qualifications
      • Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology, CCC-SLP.
      • Previous school-based SLP experience.
      • Experience conducting evaluations, writing reports, and participating in eligibility determination and IEP meetings.
      • Experience with AAC, autism, early childhood, severe disabilities, or multidisciplinary special education teams.
      • Experience supervising or supporting speech-language technicians, assistants, paraeducators, or other support staff.

Job Description
Millard School District is seeking a full-time Speech Language Pathologist to provide school-based speech and language services to eligible students across the District. The Speech Language Pathologist will evaluate student communication needs, provide direct and consultative services, support IEP development and implementation, collaborate with educators and families, and maintain required documentation in compliance with state and federal special education requirements.
 
This position may serve students across multiple schools and grade levels and may require travel within District boundaries.
