Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Coach student-athletes in sport-specific techniques, strategies, and conditioning appropriate to the season. • Motivate and mentor student-athletes to develop strong character, work ethic, sportsmanship, and appreciation for the sport. • Foster a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented environment. • Ensure compliance with UHSAA regulations and Millard School District policies and procedures. • Supervise all team activities including practices, competitions, travel, and off-season events. • Monitor academic eligibility and promote academic accountability of student-athletes. • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents/guardians, administration, and athletic directors. • Serve as a liaison for related youth and feeder programs to strengthen program development. • Manage program budgets, expenditures, fundraising efforts, and equipment inventory in coordination with school administration and the District finance office. • Plan and oversee off-season activities including camps, conditioning programs, and summer preparation. • Coordinate transportation and scheduling in collaboration with administration. • Maintain required coaching certifications and ensure assistant coaches meet compliance standards. DRILL TEAM – Additional Responsibilities • Develop and teach choreographed routines for performances, competitions, assemblies, parades, and community events. • Provide instruction in dance technique, precision movement, synchronization, and performance quality. • Select music, coordinate routine themes, and ensure choreography complies with UHSAA regulations and school standards. • Oversee costume selection, fittings, and uniform coordination in collaboration with administration and approved vendors. • Coordinate halftime performances and school spirit activities in collaboration with administration and other activity sponsors. • Develop conditioning programs focused on flexibility, strength, endurance, and injury prevention. • Supervise tryouts, team selection processes, and performance evaluations consistent with District policies. • Maintain high standards of professionalism, appearance, and representation during school and community events. • Coordinate travel logistics and performance scheduling for competitions and special events. • Promote team unity, discipline, and leadership development among members. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications • Must meet UHSAA coaching certification standards or be willing to obtain certification prior to the start of the season. • Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented environment. • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. • Ability to supervise students safely in an athletic environment. Preferred Qualifications • Previous coaching experience (0–2 years or more), preferably at the secondary level. • Prior participation experience in the sport at the high school or collegiate level. • Experience managing budgets and coordinating fundraising activities. DRILL TEAM – Additional Qualifications • Knowledge of dance technique, choreography development, and performance staging. • Experience teaching or performing in drill team, dance, or related performance programs preferred. • Understanding of competition scoring criteria and performance evaluation standards. • Ability to safely supervise and train students in physically demanding performance environments.a • Ability to manage costumes, props, music licensing considerations, and event coordination. |

Job Description Millard School District is accepting applications for the position of Head Drill Team Coach at Millard High School. The Head Drill Team Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive and high-performing drill team program. The Head Coach will coach student-athletes in technique, choreography, performance quality, strength and conditioning, and competition preparation. The Head Coach will foster discipline, teamwork, school pride, and a strong appreciation for dance and performance. The Head Coach serves as a liaison for related youth programs and community partners and is responsible for program budgets, expenditures, and fundraising efforts in coordination with school administration and the District finance office. Additional duties include off-season training, camps, choreography preparation, and summer conditioning. |

Minimum Qualification Review Applications will be screened for completeness and minimum qualifications specific to the coaching assignment. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Coaching experience, sport-specific knowledge, and demonstrated ability to supervise students will be evaluated as part of the screening process. Interviews Selected applicants will be contacted for interviews with the school principal or hiring committee. Background Check Requirement 1. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check. 2. Employment eligibility verification (Form I-9) must be completed prior to the first day of employment. Selection & Notification 1. Final candidates will be notified by the District Human Resources Office. 2. Salary placement will follow the applicable District Classified Salary Schedule based on verified experience, if applicable. 3.
