Position: Speech Instructional Spec

Location: Delta South Elementary School, Delta, Utah

Millard School District is seeking a qualified Speech Instructional Specialist to support speech and language services at Delta South Elementary School. Under the supervision of the Principal and Speech Therapist, the specialist will help administer tests, support therapy sessions, and work with students individually and in small groups to improve communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

·         Hourly Rate (2025-2026)

o   Year 1: $18.59

o   Year 2: $20.93

o   Year 3: $23.53

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Assist with articulation, listening, and language testing.

·         Prepare and score tests; discuss results with the Speech Therapist.

·         Help develop treatment approaches and prepare instructional materials.

·         Schedule students and coordinate with classroom teachers.

·         Provide direct instruction and therapeutic exercises to approximately 30 students daily.

·         Maintain student records and monitor progress.

·         Support hearing screenings and refer concerns to the therapist.

·         Communicate with parents and teachers regarding student progress.

·         Participate in IEP meetings and perform general school duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

·         High school diploma or equivalent.

·         Must meet one of the following:

o   Completion of 48 semester hours of post-secondary education.

o   Associate’s degree or higher.

o   Passing score on the Master Teacher Assessment.

Skills & Abilities:

·         Basic competence in reading, writing, speaking, and arithmetic.

·         Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with children.

·         Ability to motivate and support student learning.
