Job Announcement: AmeriCorps – Millard High School:

           

The AmeriCorps Student Success Program (SSP) partners with schools to fund, train, and support AmeriCorps Members

who work on site at schools to provide extra support for at-risk students. Student Success is funded through AmeriCorps and the Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism, and the program is administered by the United Way of Northern Utah.

 

Elementary Literacy Tutoring Responsibilities - Provide one-on-one tutoring in person and/or online for struggling readers.

 

Student Support/Community School Responsibilities - Track individual student attendance and provide support through checking in/out daily to decrease the number of absences.

 

Member Benefits:  During their 10–12-month term of service, each member receives a monthly living allowance. They receive a total of $16,000 for a reduced full-time term (1200 hours), and $12,000 for a part-time term (900 hours). The total living allowance will be distributed equally in monthly payments over the course of the 10-month term.

 

At the end of each honorably completed service year, members receive an education award that can be used for tuition, fees, and books at any accredited post-secondary institution or towards payment of student loans.

 

A Health Insurance subsidy and childcare assistance is available for full-time members.  All members qualify for forbearance of payments on current student loans.

 

Member Requirements:

·     Member must be a high school graduate

·     Member must be a citizen of the United States

·     Member must submit to and pass an FBI background check/Sex offender check

conducted prior to hire

·     Prior to the training, member must provide these documents: U.S. birth certificate or

approved citizenship documentation, driver’s license, social security card, high

school graduation verification

·     Mandatory 2-day pre-service orientation and training in August
