Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Education or related field
  • Valid teaching license or ability to obtain one preferred
  • Experience working with adult learners, at-risk populations, or alternative education programs strongly preferred
  • Strong technology skills and experience with virtual teaching platforms
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote setting

Preferred Skills:

Description

We are seeking a dedicated and engaging Virtual Academy Teacher to support adult learners working toward their high school diploma or GED. This role is part of a grant-funded, two-year virtual pilot program focused on expanding access and improving outcomes for adult students. The teacher will deliver high-quality online instruction, build meaningful connections, and help learners overcome barriers to achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide virtual instruction in core subject areas aligned with high school diploma and GED requirements
  • Develop and deliver engaging online lessons tailored to adult learners with diverse academic backgrounds
  • Monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and adjust instruction to meet individual needs
  • Support students in setting goals, staying motivated, and maintaining consistent attendance
  • Utilize online learning platforms and digital tools to facilitate instruction and track performance
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and outcomes
  • Communicate regularly with students, staff, and support services to ensure student success
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive virtual classroom environment

Work Environment:

  • Fully virtual/remote position
  • This is a grant-based, two-year pilot program
  • Flexible scheduling may be required to meet student needs
  • Part-time applicants may be considered based on qualifications
