Description |
|
|
The Middle School Visual Arts Teacher provides instruction in visual arts for students in grades 6 through 8. The teacher fosters creativity, artistic skill development, and appreciation for visual arts while helping students explore a variety of media, techniques, and artistic traditions. Instruction aligns with district curriculum and state visual arts standards while supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction and Curriculum

Plan and deliver engaging visual arts lessons aligned with district curriculum and state standards.

Teach foundational art concepts including elements of art and principles of design.

Provide instruction in a variety of media such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, and digital art when available.

Introduce students to art history, cultural influences in art, and contemporary artists.

Demonstrate artistic techniques and guide students through creative processes.

Adapt instruction and materials to meet diverse student learning needs.
Student Learning and Assessment

Evaluate student learning through projects, portfolios, critiques, and participation.

Provide constructive feedback to help students refine artistic skills and techniques.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and grades.
Professional Responsibilities
-
Attend staff meetings, professional development, and school activities as required.

Maintain inventory of art supplies and request materials as needed.

Follow district policies, procedures, and applicable state education regulations.
